Police seek arsonist who threw a Molotov cocktail at a Detroit home during a shooting

DETROIT – Police are asking for the public’s help with identifying a suspect in a June 7 arson on Detroit’s west side.

It happened at a home on Appleton Street, just north of Seven Mile Road, near Telegraph Road. Police said three people approached the house and started a fire before two of them fired guns at the building and ran off. The person police are looking to identify went to the side of the house and threw a Molotov cocktail at the side window before running away.

The fire damaged the first floor of the home. No one was home at the time and no one was injured.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has any information is urged to contact the Detroit Police Department’s Arson Unit at 313-596-2940.

A $500 reward has been offered for information in the case. Tips can be made anonymously. Case number 2406070405 must be included in the tip.
