Teens plead guilty in 2023 deadly shooting of 19-year-old in Port Huron

PORT HURON, Mich. – Two teenagers pleaded guilty to shooting and killing a 19-year-old in Port Huron in 2023.

The shooting happened during a boat week parade on July 12, 2023, in the 1300 block of Lapeer Avenue.

Witnesses immediately called the police and were able to describe the suspects and provide a location.

Police responded to the area and found KC Cureton, 19, with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

Two 15-year-olds, one from Port Huron and one from Detroit, were arrested in connection to the shooting.

Investigators recovered a gun at the scene and obtained a confession from the suspects.

Port Huron police said the St. Clair County Prosecutor’s Office brought the case to a conclusion, resulting in a guilty verdict.
