Kevin Kowalsky, 40, of Alpena, has been arrested for possessing child sexually abusive material.
In August of 2024, troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Alpena Post investigated a tip that was submitted to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The tip identified the 40-year-old man from Alpena who was allegedly possessing child sexually abusive material (CSAM). Troopers identified Kowalsky of Alpena as the suspect.
Troopers completed multiple search warrants for his Google accounts and discovered several CSAM videos and photographs.
On Oct. 17, Troopers obtained a residential search and arrest warrant for Kowalsky.
Troopers utilized resources from MSP to arrest the 40-year-old man at his residence without incident.
Kowalsky was arrested and sent to the Alpena County Jail on a nine-count felony warrant.
Kowalsky was charged on Friday (Oct. 18) in the 88th District Court of Alpena on six counts of child sexually abusive material (possession), one count of child sexually abusive material (aggravated possession), and two counts of use of a computer to commit a crime.
The 40-year-old man was given a $100,000 cash surety bond. Kowalsky’s next court appearance is set for Oct. 23 at 1:45 p.m.
