Pest control company Orkin released its annual Rattiest City List and the Motor City has gone up in the rankings. Again.

Orkin ranks the list based on the number of new rodent services the company performs in that city. It factors in residential and commercial pest treatments.

Popular Detroit restaurant reopens with updated menu after closing during COVID

popular Detroit restaurant is reopening Wednesday with an updated menu after it closed during the COVID pandemic.

The original Lady of the House restaurant in Corktown closed after its building sold during the pandemic in 2021.

It’s reopening at 4884 Grand River Avenue, unit 1C, in Detroit on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024.

Eminem, Obama urge Michiganders to vote for Harris during rally in Detroit

Former President Barack Obama visited Detroit Tuesday night to support Vice President Kamala Harris.

Obama was introduced by Detroit’s own Eminem, who inspired the former president to rap a few lines from his hit, “Lose Yourself.”

Obama spoke to a standing-room-only crowd at Huntington Place for the campaign event.

MDOT hosting virtual open house on Gratiot overhaul

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is doing a study to make plans to renovate Gratiot from Downtown Detroit to the 8 Mile on the city’s east side.

Before plans are made, MDOT is hoping to hear input from the people that live and work along the road. It’s hosting a virtual open house Wednesday night on Zoom from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.

Weather: Falling back to fall-like temperatures in Metro Detroit

An upper level disturbance brought a few light showers overnight, so you might wake up to damp sidewalks and even more fallen leaves. Otherwise, with the cloud cover and southerly winds, it’s mild morning with temperatures on either side of 60.

Cooler air arrives this afternoon in the wake of a dry cold front. We will top out in the upper 60s early, then temperatures slide through the afternoon and evening. Winds will be picking up with gusts close to 30 mph this afternoon. It will be noticeably colder tonight with lows tumbling into the 30s.
