DETROIT – A popular Detroit restaurant is reopening Wednesday with an updated menu after it closed during the COVID pandemic.
The original Lady of the House restaurant in Corktown closed after its building sold during the pandemic in 2021.
It’s reopening at 4884 Grand River Avenue, unit 1C, in Detroit on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024.
Chef Kate Williams is bringing back the award-winning restaurant with a revamped menu that reflects her Irish and Midwest roots.
Signature dishes returning to the menu include steak tartare, whole roasted chicken, and the potato donut dessert.
The bar has 12 cocktails, as well as zero-proof drinks. The drink menu is seasonal and designed to compliment the food.
Williams was born in Detroit and worked as sous chef for Wolfgang Puck. She worked in New York and Copenhagen restaurants before returning to open Lady of the House in 2017.
Williams has been cooking at popups since Lady of the House closed in 2021.
Lady of the House has been a no-waste kitchen since it first opened. Williams uses “as many ingredients as possible” from Detroit-area farms and producers, which means the menu rotates.
