President Barack Obama, Eminem rally voters to support VP Kamala Harris at Detroit campaign event

Obama raps Eminem’s lyrics to energize voters

DETROIT – We’re two weeks away from Election Day, and former President Barack Obama was back in Detroit to show support for Vice President Kamala Harris with a little help from Eminem.

Obama was introduced by Detroit’s own Eminem Tuesday (Oct. 22), who inspired the former president to rap a few lines from his hit, “Lose Yourself.”

“Now I noticed my palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy, there’s vomit on my sweater already, moms spaghetti; I’m nervous, but on the surface, I look calm and ready to drop bombs, but I keep on forgetting,” rapped Obama.

A standing-room-only crowd at Huntington Place in downtown Detroit for the campaign event featured many top Democratic leaders, including Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Senator Debbie Stabenow, and Elissa Slotkin.

Both Obama and Eminem urged Michigan voters to vote for Kamala Harris.

“Going into this election, the spotlight is on us more than ever, and I think it’s important to use your voice, so I’m encouraging everybody to get out and vote,” said Eminem.

“We do not need to see what an older looney Donald Trump looks like with no guard rails,” said Obama. “America is ready to turn the page. We are ready for a better story. Michigan, we are ready for President Kamala Harris.”
