Early in-person voting begins on Saturday in Michigan for the 2024 presidential election.

In November 2022, Michigan voters approved a constitutional amendment that gave voters the right to vote early and in person at early voting sites. The first time Michigan allowed early in-person voting for a statewide election was for the 2024 presidential primary election on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024.

Now, early in-person voting is an option for all statewide and national elections in Michigan.

Here’s what to know:

Who can vote early?

Any registered voter in Michigan can vote early and in person at an early voting site for statewide and federal elections.

What is the early voting process like?

Early in-person voting works pretty much the same as regular in-person voting does. Voters will be issued a ballot, they will fill it out, and then insert it directly into a tabulator.

How to find your early voting location

You can look up your assigned early voting site up to 60 days before Election Day at Michigan.gov/Vote. Some voters only have one assigned early voting site, and others may have several locations to choose from.

When does early voting end?

Early voting ends on Sunday, Nov. 3.

Do I need a photo ID?

No. While voters should bring a photo ID to an early voting site, it is not required. Voters who do not have a photo ID, or who forgot to bring it, can still vote after signing an affidavit.

Can you register to vote at an early voting site?

No. Voters cannot register to vote at an early voting site unless the site is also a clerk’s office.

Michigan residents can register to vote in person at their local clerk’s office until 8 p.m. on Election Day.

---> Find your local clerk’s office here.

Can you change your vote after voting early?

No. Once a ballot has been inserted into a tabulator, it cannot be changed.
