The statue was unveiled back in June and honored the late Lt. Col. Alexander Jefferson.
Jefferson flew missions in WWII as a Tuskegee Airman, survived being a German prisoner of war, and returned home to become a beloved school teacher.
The statue weighs around 600 lbs. and is made of bronze.
Detroit police reported the statue was recovered early Friday morning.
During a press conference on Oct. 25, Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan said two people were arrested in connection to the theft.
Police learned a rental truck had left the area where the statue was located and had contacted the rental company. The company then provided GPA coordinates to the exact location of the truck.
It was discovered that the man renting the truck was wanted for other robberies. Police found the man and arrested him.
According to Duggan, the man confessed to stealing the statue and returned it.
