CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Macomb County man is facing six felony charges linked to the possession of child sex content.
Joshua Mathes, 43, was arrested around 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024, outside his Chesterfield Township home.
Members of the Macomb County Sheriff‘s Office Enforcement Team said they took several laptops, cellphones, and tablets from Mathes’ home, as well as a CPU hard drive and a small external hard drive.
Officials believe Mathes was in possession of child sexually abusive material. He’s also accused of using a variety of websites containing that content and visiting message boards used by child predators.
Mathes is charged with three counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material and three counts of using a computer to commit a crime.
Each of those charges is a 10-year felony.
Mathes was arraigned Friday at 42nd District Court in New Baltimore. Bond was set at $10,000, cash/surety. He can‘t go online or contact anyone under the age of 18, if he’s released.
