Video: Police rescue Macomb County woman trapped in car fire

Woman taken to hospital for minor injuries

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – A Macomb County woman was rescued from a car engulfed in flames after a crash in Mt. Pleasant Sunday night.

On Oct. 27, 2024, just before 10 p.m., Mt. Pleasant police responded to a single rollover crash at the North Mission Road roundabout.

When they arrived at the scene, flames were coming out of the rear of the car. One officer took an axe and broke the windshield. There, they found a 22-year-old Sterling Heights woman trapped in the car.

Bodycam footage showed the officer axing the windshield and directing the woman on how to get out of the car. The woman was able to kick her way out of the windshield, and police pulled her out to safety.

The police officer who broke the windshield asked the woman if anyone else was in the car.

“I don’t know,” said the woman while smoke can be seen coming out of her mouth.

The officer then continued to break up the windshield to search for any other passengers while the car became fully engulfed in flames. Police said no one else was found in the car.

The 22-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries.
