Police searching for men posing as salesmen in Taylor following home invasion

TAYLOR, Mich. – Police are searching for a group of men posing as salesmen going door to door at homes in Taylor after one of them allegedly broke into a house, assaulted someone and stole their belongings.

On Oct. 29 at around 4 p.m. at a home near Munson Avenue and Bailey Avenue, a victim found an unknown man in their basement.

The suspect claimed to be a salesman for Flex Seal and was trying to offer services to seal cracks in concrete. Police said the suspect was not wearing any business logos or insignia.

The suspect then assaulted the victim, stole the victim’s personal belongings and drove away in a blue SUV with two other men.

The suspect who allegedly assaulted the victim is described to be a younger man in his 20s to 30s, 5′11″, wearing a dark blue Detroit Tigers baseball hat and a tattoo on the side of his neck.

Neighbors told police two other men were posing as salesmen and were trying to sell their services door to door in the neighborhood.

Police said they are still canvassing the area and investigating the incident.
