What we know: Massive pileup on I-96 in Ingham County kills 4, injures 17
Four people were killed and 17 were seriously injured in a massive pileup on I-96 in Ingham County on Saturday night.
The crash happened at around 11:42 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, on I-96 at M-52. Michigan State Police said troopers from the Lansing and Brighton post were working in the area with DTE Energy to string power lines across the expressway when the crash happened.
The work required the expressway to be shut down so crews could pull lines across the road. The troopers had completed a shut down on westbound I-96 at M-52 on the overpass and had just reopened the expressway.

Father charged after 3-year-old son shoots himself in Detroit home
The father of a 3-year-old boy has been charged after the boy got ahold of a gun and shot himself on Wednesday in Detroit.
The shooting happened on West Grand Street in the area of Livernois and Davison at around 12:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
Detroit Lions star flashes impolite gesture at Packers fans after being ejected for hit
A Detroit Lions star flashed an impolite gesture at Green Bay Packers fans after being ejected for an illegal hit.
With 6:18 left in the second quarter of Sunday’s win in Green Bay, the Lions led the Packers 7-3. The Packers faced a second and 20 when Jordan Love lofted a deep pass down the left sideline to Bo Melton.
The pass fell incomplete, but a few moments later, safety Brian Branch flew in and speared Melton in the helmet. The hit drew a 15-yard penalty for a hit on a defenseless player.
Branch was also ejected from the game.
Weather: Rain showers & record warmth continue through Election Day for Metro Detroit
After sunshine to start the day on Sunday, rain showers moved into the region late Sunday night, and we will keep the wet weather into the forecast, looking ahead throughout the next few days.
We’re going to watch a strong front of boundary moved toward the region over the next couple days, and before that frontal boundary moves through, rain showers will be expected through election day on Tuesday.
Rain showers will stick around on and off throughout the day on Monday and a Monday night, much warmer temperatures throughout the day. High temperature is heading into the upper 60s to near 70° by Monday afternoon.
