1 dead after alleged domestic violence shooting in Warren

Domestic violence history emerged in shooting

WARREN, Mich. – One person is dead after an alleged domestic violence shooting in Warren.

The incident occurred on Monday (Nov. 4) at 4:20 p.m. at a home in the 24000 block of Bolam Street, near 10 Mile Road and Groesbeck Highway, where the 29-year-old man was shot by a woman located at the scene.

The man was transported to a Metro Detroit hospital, where he succumbed to his injury.

The woman was taken into custody without incident.

Warren police arrived and learned that the 29-year-old victim had been shot and had fled the scene on foot after the shooting.

Officers checked the area and located the victim on a nearby street. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to his chest/abdomen area and was transported to an area hospital by the Warren Fire Department, wherein he was later pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries.

Other officers made contact with the 33-year-old woman on the scene, where she admitted to shooting the man at her residence.

The woman said that she and the victim had been dating off/on for a while and that the man allegedly forced entry into the residence and chased after her.

The shooting then occurred with the man being struck one time. The woman was then taken into custody without incident, pending further investigation.

Investigators have confirmed an extensive domestic violence history at the residence between the man and the woman.
