Dearborn police said they searched the area and found valuable evidence that led to the arrest of the 29-year-old man.

Officials said Jones was seen pacing outside the residence before entering and confronting the homeowner by placing his hands around their neck.

The victim was able to escape Jones' grasp and exited the house, sustaining minor injuries.

Witnesses in the area observed Jones run from the scene shortly thereafter.

Further investigation revealed that, earlier in the day, Jones had assaulted a victim while they filled up a car tire on the 3800 block of Monroe Street.

The 29-year-old man was charged with first-degree home invasion, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, and assault & battery by the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office on Monday, Nov. 4, 2024.

Jones was charged in the 19th District Court, where he received a $50,000 cash bond with GPS tether.

A probable cause conference has been scheduled for Nov. 13 at 8 a.m.
