73-year-old woman found dead inside Southfield apartment fire

Dozens have been displaced

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – A 73-year-old woman has died after a fire ripped through an apartment fire in Southfield.

Three people sustained minor injuries from smoke inhalation, with another person hospitalized.

The fire occurred on Monday (Nov. 4) at the Le Chateau apartments on Southfield Road, near 10 Mile Road.

Fire crews from six neighboring communities assisted in extinguishing the blaze.

The blaze, believed to have started in a second-story apartment, quickly spread, causing the roof to collapse and damaging or destroying 32 apartment homes.
