Donald Trump’s campaign released a statement Wednesday afternoon after Kamala Harris called the President-elect to concede the election and congratulate him on his victory.

Trump was declared the 47th president of the United States on Wednesday morning after clearing the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency with a win in Wisconsin.

According to the Associated Press, a source said Harris talked about the need for a peaceful transfer of power. Harris is expected to deliver a concession speech at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024.

Steven Cheung, Trump Campaign Communications Director released the following statement:

“President Donald J. Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris spoke by phone earlier today where she congratulated him on his historic victory. President Trump acknowledged Vice President Harris on her strength, professionalism, and tenacity throughout the campaign, and both leaders agreed on the importance of unifying the country.”
