DETROIT – Detroit’s Christmas tree is scheduled to arrive in the city Wednesday with the tree lighting ceremony happening later this month.

66-foot tree arrives in Detroit

This year‘s tree is a 66-foot Norway spruce from Manton, a small town in Northern Michigan’s Wexford County.

After making the 200-mile journey to Detroit, crews will lift it into place with a crane at Campus Martius Park.

Crews will prepare the tree with 25,000 LED lights and bulbs ahead of the annual lighting ceremony.

Detroit’s tree lighting ceremony

The 21st annual Detroit Tree Lighting is scheduled to happen from 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, according to the Downtown Detroit Partnership.

Attendees can expect performances by local and national talent on the MGM Grand Detroit Main Stage, performances by Metro Detroit skaters on the ice rink, food trucks and more.

The Downtown Detroit Partnership said they will release more details closer to the ceremony date.
