Macomb County man with history of arrests given $500 bond in sexual assault case

Suspect had been ‘arrested multiple times for assaulting young women,’ police say

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A man with an alleged history of sexual assault arrests was given a $500 bond after reportedly sexually assaulting a woman.

According to authorities, the latest assault happened Oct. 23 at the Walmart store on Shelby Parkway in Shelby Township. Police said a woman reported being sexually assaulted in the store by a man who then left in a silver Jeep Patriot.

Using surveillance cameras, investigators were able to identify the suspect as Kirk Rogers, who allegedly had been arrested multiple times for criminal sexual conduct.

Rogers was taken into custody and charged on Oct. 29 with second-degree criminal sexual assault.

“This is a person that has been investigated and arrested multiple times for assaulting young women and must be prevented from doing so again,” said Shelby Township Police Chief Robert Shelide.

Rogers was given a $500 bond.
