ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Ann Arbor Police Department is investigating after a felonious assault happened during a traffic dispute overnight.

The assault happened at around 1 a.m. on Nov. 6 at a flashing yellow light at the intersection of Main and Madison streets.

Police say the victim reported being stopped at a flashing yellow light behind a car that wasn’t moving.

The victim then allegedly made an “offensive hand gesture” toward that car, which prompted the driver to exit the vehicle.

The driver then " removed the victim from their seat, punched them in the face, and threatened them with what the victim believed was a handgun," according to the police department.

The suspect driver left the area southbound on Main Street in a silver sedan.

Police say there doesn’t appear to be a threat to the community.

The investigation is ongoing.
