Quick-Thinking officer rescues woman from oncoming train in Monroe Township

Officials have rescued a 67-year-old woman who was found lying across a railroad track in Monroe Township. (WDIV)

MONROE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Officials have rescued a 67-year-old woman who was found lying across a railroad track in Monroe Township.

The incident occurred on Tuesday (Nov. 5) at 2:04 p.m. on Albain Road near S. Telegraph Road.

Deputies were dispatched to the area in regard to the woman lying across the tracks in what appeared to be an attempted suicide.

Deputy Alec Preadmore responded to the area, and upon his arrival, he found that the railroad gates were coming down and that a southbound train was traveling quickly toward the woman.

Preadmore rushed onto the railroad tracks and pulled the woman to safety seconds before the train arrived.

The woman was transported to the hospital for further medical treatment.
