Man wearing body armor found fatally shot behind Oakland County movie theater

Suspect in custody

WATERFORD, Mich. – A West Bloomfield man was arrested Friday in connection with a man found in a Waterford movie theater parking lot with a gunshot wound.

Officials previously reported a body was found but later said a 28-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the chest at the MJR movie theater on M-59 near Williams Lake at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7.

He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the victim might have been shot elsewhere before being dumped in the theater’s parking lot, an incident captured by security cameras.

A 24-year-old suspect was identified and taken into custody after a search warrant was executed at a West Bloomfield home.

Police said it was not a random act and that there is no threat to the public.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Waterford Police Department at 248-618-6108.
