Buck breaks into Jackson County assisted living facility, injures 103-year-old

Woman expected to be OK

BLACKMAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 103-year-old woman in Jackson County was injured after a buck broke into her residence.

It happened Monday, Nov. 4, at Arbor North Living, an assisted living home for senior citizens in Blackman Township. Employees called police after a buck had entered one of the resident’s rooms just before 7:30 p.m. Authorities said staff were unable to enter the room or figure out if the woman inside was injured, but they did report blood being visible and that the deer was thrashing around inside trying to escape.

According to authorities, two officers arrived and gained entry by breaking a glass patio door after finding all other entry ways locked. The deer was able to escape the apartment through the smashed door and ran off into the woods.

Bodycam footage of the incident can be watched in the video player above.

The 103-year-old woman was injured, but conscious. She was treated at the scene before being taken to a hospital. She is expected to be OK.

Police said the buck got into the apartment by jumping through a closed glass window in the woman’s bedroom while she was in bed.
