LANSING, Mich. – Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced this year’s naming contest for the turkey she will pardon.
The contest is open until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, and name suggestions can be submitted using this link.
“Thanksgiving is a time to spend quality time with your loved ones, and the annual turkey pardon is a tradition I always look forward to,” said Whitmer. “I look forward to reviewing all the fun, creative names that Michiganders come up with this year. Submit your name ideas and find out if you picked the winner to be pardoned next week!”
This is the third year that Whitmer will pardon a turkey before Thanksgiving.
Last year, there were more than 3,900 entries for the contest, which resulted in the governor pardoning Dolly Pardon.
In 2022, Whitmer pardoned Mitch E. Gander.
