The Detroit Lions announced on Sunday who will be performing at the Thanksgiving Halftime Show powered by Verizon.

The 85th annual Thanksgiving Halftime Show will feature 6X GRAMMY-nominated artist Shaboozey.

Who is Shaboozey?

The singer-songwriter began his rise to stardom with two standout features on Beyoncé‘s “Cowboy Carter” album. His latest work, “Where I’ve been, Isn’t Where I’m Going,” debuted in the top five of the Billboard 200.

His single, “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” has broken records on the Billboard’s Country Airplay and Mediabase/Country Aircheck charts. It holds the longest reign of 2024 at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

He is currently on tour with Jelly Roll throughout the United States.

Shaboozey, 29, was born and raised in Virginia. E! News reported he adopted his nickname after his high school misspelled his last name. His last name, Chibueze, is translated as “God is King” in the Igbo language.

In an interview with GQ, he credited his upbringing and Nigerian American roots for his passion for country music.
