SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – DTE Energy crews will close a section of 12 Mile Road in Southfield for continued electrical work this weekend.

Underground electrical work will begin on Saturday, Nov. 16, and the road is expected to reopen on Sunday, Nov. 17.

The Road Commission of Oakland County says closing 12 Mile Road just west of Duffy Street, is necessary for repairs on an underground electrical conduit that caught fire earlier this year.

Access to homes and businesses along this section of the road will be maintained east and west of the closure, according to the road commission.

During this closure, drivers will be detoured to Telegraph Road/US 24 to 13 Mile Road to Inkster Road, and then back to 12 Mile Road, and vice versa.

Once the roadway reopens on Sunday, lane closures will stay in place until late December as crews continue to rebuild the electrical conduit.
