Grandmother mourns ‘Grandma’s Boy’ who was beaten to death by his mother, stepfather in Detroit

Cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma to head

DETROIT – A grandmother expressed outrage after her 8-year-old grandson was allegedly beaten to death by his stepdad and mother.

“He didn’t deserve this, especially from someone he’s supposed to trust,” said Adrianna Thimes Ozoanya.

Ozoanya identified her grandson as Adren Thimes Jr. The 8-year-old was killed Friday (Nov. 8) at his home in Detroit.

The boy’s mother and stepfather were arrested and charged with murder.

“I just can’t wait until they are fully in prison, I can’t wait until justice is served,” Ozoanya said.

Ozoanya described her grandson as sweet and caring.

“He was a grandma’s boy,” Ozoanya said.

Adren’s biological father, who was Ozoanya’s son, died in 2017.

She said the stepfather had been in the picture for a few years.

“He dictated every visit, and she let it,” Ozoanya said.
