Man dies after being thrown from motorcycle in Monroe County crash with service truck

Driver of service truck was not injured

MONROE COUNTY, Mich. – A 53-year-old man riding a motorcycle has been killed after colliding with a service truck on I-75 in Monroe County.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024, at 5:43 a.m. Troopers from the Monroe Post were dispatched to northbound I-75 near M-26 for the two-vehicle crash.

The crash involved the motorcycle driven by the 53-year-old man from Detroit and the service truck driven by another 53-year-old man from Dundee.

After police investigation, the maroon Honda motorcycle was traveling north on I-75 when he, according to troopers, struck the rear of the northbound service truck, throwing him from the bike.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver and the only occupant of the truck were not injured.

The motorcycle driver was wearing a helmet, and neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to be a factor.

The incident remains under investigation by the Michigan State Police.

The Michigan State Police were assisted by the South Rockwood Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Berlin Township Fire Department, and Monroe Community Ambulance.
