DETROIT – The Detroit Pistons are paying homage to the “Bad Boys” era with their 2024-25 Nike NBA City Edition uniforms.
Fans can see how the jersey pays respect to the “Bad Boys,” who won back-to-back NBA championships in 1989 and 1990, through a variety of design elements.
The uniforms are a “bone” color and “play on the skull and crossbones theme of the famous “Bad Boys” inspired logo," according to the release.
They feature the “Pistons” script across the chest, with vintage-inspired orange numbers.
An orange stripe down the side features a repeating 89-90 number design.
A special design was also put on the uniforms to pay homage to Chuck Daly, the former head coach of the Pistons, who led the team to “five straight Eastern Conference Finals appearances, three straight NBA Finals appearances and back-to-back NBA titles,” according to the release. It includes a “back-to-back” emblem with Daly’s signature.
In addition to creating these jerseys, two t-shirts and a crewneck were created to celebrate the “Bad Boys.”
When will the Pistons wear the ‘Bad Boys’ City Edition uniforms?
The Pistons will wear the City Edition uniforms 13 times throughout the season, starting on Nov. 18. They will be worn during home games, where memories from the “Bad Boys” era will be shared.
The court will also be inspired by this era, with the logo in a classic script font and “modernized crackled logos,” on each end of the playing surface.
“Skulls and crossbones with the jersey numbers of each player on the 1989 and 1990 championship rosters as well as Coach Daly are represented down the sidelines while the names of those who have been Detroit Pistons season-ticket holders for 20 or more years are etched inside the block Pistons logos on the baselines,” according to the release.
