Police investigating homicide in Livingston County

Man found dead after roommate reported argument

LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Mich. – Michigan State Police are investigating a homicide that happened early Friday morning.

Troopers responded to the 6000 block of Sargent Road in Handy Township just after 1 a.m. on Nov. 15 after a resident reported his roommates were arguing in the basement of the home.

When the resident checked on the roommates, he found his 57-year-old roommate on the floor. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect, a 35-year-old Howell man, ran away from the home. Troopers began to search for the suspect.

Just before 2:30 a.m., a resident in the 5700 block of Millett Road called police, saying someone was pounding on their door. Deputies from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office went to the home and took the suspect in custody. They learned this was the same man who ran from the home where the murder happened.

Police are not releasing the cause of death or what, if any, weapons that were used. The investigation is ongoing.
