UAW supervisor charged for allegedly sexually assaulting employee at Metro Detroit Ford plant

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – A UAW supervisor was charged for allegedly sexually assaulting an employee at the Ford plant in Sterling Heights.

Angelo Joseph Lupo, 48, is accused of luring a young woman into his office on Aug. 26, 2024, where he confined and sexually assaulted her.

He was charged with two counts of Third Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct and one count of Unlawful Imprisonment. Each charge carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.

Lupo was arraigned in court, where his bond was set at $50,000, 10%. If released, he is required to have no contact with the victim and surrender his passport.

He is scheduled to appear in a probable cause conference on Nov. 27, 2024, at 9 a.m.

“Our hearts go out to the victim, who showed immense courage in coming forward. Using a position of authority to exploit and harm another individual is a serious offense, and our office is committed to seeking justice on her behalf,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
