Plymouth-Canton community rallies after ‘Grinch’ steals storage trailer containing ballet props

A white 2-door pickup truck was involved in the theft

WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – Tragedy struck the Plymouth-Canton Ballet Company when their storage trailer containing vital props for their upcoming performance of The Nutcracker was stolen.

The trailer was stolen from the 8100 block of Ronda Drive in Canton at approximately 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 17.

The black, enclosed 24-foot trailer, with extra-tall eight-foot walls (license plate E559952, VIN: 54GVC24T7N7053627), housed all the larger props integral to the beloved holiday production.

Witnesses said a white two-door pickup truck was involved in the theft.

The ballet company has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds to purchase the necessary props and ensure the treasured holiday tradition continues uninterrupted.

The company is also asking the public to be on the lookout for the stolen trailer and props.

Anyone who spots the trailer or its contents is urged to contact local law enforcement immediately.

Despite the setback, the Plymouth-Canton Ballet Company remains committed to bringing the magic of The Nutcracker to life with the community’s support.

They are confident the show will go on, making this milestone anniversary one to remember.

Anybody with information on the theft is asked to contact artistic director June Smith at 734-775-2136, email at pcbcballet@yahoo.com, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak-Up.
