The annual holiday event includes nearly 50 animated holiday displays with more than 100,000 lights.

Here’s how often drivers are using cellphones, seat belts when on the road

Research shows that Michigan drivers are using cellphones less since a hands-free law went into effect, but they’re also using seatbelts less.

The grant-funded study was conducted by Michigan State University and completed in May and June of 2024. The research found that the hands-free law helped reduce the rate of handheld device usage by 1.2%.

Suspects wanted for attempted murder arrested after police chase in Detroit

Two suspects wanted for assault with intent to murder in Roseville were arrested after a police chase in Detroit.

Michigan State Police troopers were on patrol in Detroit at 9:55 p.m. on Tuesday when they assisted with a pursuit involving the suspects, who were traveling in a Chrysler 300.

When they went to the suspects' last known location, they found the suspect vehicle and tried to initiate a traffic stop.

The driver didn’t stop, and the troopers pursued the car until they lost sight of it near 7 Mile and Kelly roads, according to state police.

What Michigan court will decide in upcoming hearing related to trial of 1997 ‘Baby Garnet’ murder

A court will soon decide if a mother’s statement to law enforcement related to the murder of “Baby Garnet” will be admissible in trial.

On June 26, 1997, a worker discovered a baby girl, known as “Baby Garnet,” in the waste pit of a Garnet Lake campground outhouse while emptying a septic pit at the campground. The baby was estimated to be nearly full-term.

Nancy Ann Gerwatowski, 60, was charged with open murder, involuntary manslaughter and concealing the death of an individual.

Weather: Snowy start in Metro Detroit -- How this can affect morning commute

Waking up to the first flakes of the season! Light, scattered snow showers will continue to push through Southeast Michigan early today which could slow down the morning commute. Some road temperatures have dipped below freezing, so elevated surfaces may get a little slick even if we don’t have much accumulation.

Scattered to numerous snow showers will impact Southeast Michigan today leading to a dusting is spots. Highs will be around 40, but wind chills today will be in the 20s and 30s. Snowflakes could mix with rain in pockets later today.
