Over 167K pounds of ground beef from Detroit-based company recalled over E. coli. What to know

A Detroit-based company has recalled about 167,277 pounds of ground beef because it may be contaminated with E. coli, health officials said.

So far, 15 people in Minnesota have gotten sick with onset dates ranging from Nov. 2 and Nov. 10.

Detroit makes list of best US places visit in 2025

Detroit was recently named on a list of the best places to travel to in 2025 by “Travel + Leisure.”

The places on the list were chosen by magazine staff after they reviewed 120 different destinations.

They chose the destinations based on “what feels like right now.”

“To make it on our list requires more than just a hotly anticipated opening or two,” said Travel + Leisure writers. “These are places that feel of the moment, whether that’s because they offer unparalleled access to the outdoors, a cultural immersion you can’t find anywhere else, a pulse-quickening hit of excitement, or the sort of blissful luxury only a true five-star property can deliver.”

Detroit was included on the list within the “For Big City Thrills” category.

Man crashes car into Dearborn Heights gun store, steals dozens of guns, does it again

A 29-year-old man has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison for his role in a two-day crime spree that involved stealing almost 50 guns.

According to authorities, Deon Bell got two men and a boy to help him steal guns from a store in Dearborn Heights on Sept. 11, 2022. The four stole a car, crashed it into the front of the store and left with 22 guns.

Weather: Cloudy and seasonally cool weekend ahead in Metro Detroit

Drier start across Metro Detroit this morning, but cool. However, any lingering dampness from last night’s snow showers that melted could be re-freezing and creating some slick patches on elevated surfaces like ramps, bridges and overpasses. Clouds continue to linger and winds are picking up.

Breezy today with peak gusts around 30mph midday. Scattered to numerous lake effect rain showers are also likely today, mainly for areas east of US-23/I-75, more specifically in the Thumb region. Near average today through the weekend with highs in the upper 40s.
