PORT HURON, Mich. – The toll rates for the Blue Water Bridge are set to increase on Dec. 1.

The Michigan Department of Transportation will implement the new rates for eastbound travel on the bridge.

Rates will increase by $1, effective Dec. 1, and a second increase of $1 will go into effect on Dec. 1, 2025, according to a release from MDOT.

There will still be discounted rates for EDGE pass holders.

Before making final decisions on the rate increase, MDOT asked the public for their input.

This increase comes after 14 years of unchanged toll rates. MDOT officials say the rate increase will help offset maintenance and operation costs, and go to improvements for the Blue Water Bridge plaza.

The following rates will be in place starting Dec. 1, 2024:

VehicleUnited States currency
Cars$4
Each extra axle$4
Trucks and busses$4.25 per axle
EDGE Pass Commuter$0.50 discount per crossing
