Fire crews respond to explosion at Milford GM Proving Ground

MILDFORD, Mich. – Fire crews are battling the aftermath of an explosion on the General Motors (GM) Proving Ground in Milford Tuesday morning.

One of the oil wells owned by a third party on GM property exploded just before 7 a.m. on Nov. 26, 2024.

We are currently at pleasant valley north of Hyne in Brighton Township for a tank fire. Pleasant Valley road is closed north of Hyne

GM provided the following statement below:

“We are aware of an incident on the property at the Milford Proving Ground involving one of the oil wells located on GM property. Thankfully, no one was injured, and no facilities were damaged. GM fire crews are on the scene and have the incident under control. Local fire departments are standing by if needed. We will continue to monitor the situation.”
