OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A judge will decided to go through with the Oxford High School shooter’s request to withdraw his guilty plea.
This follows a call by the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office to do so. The shooter is serving a life sentence in the November 2021 shooting that left four dead.

His lawyers sought to start over because they claim the shooter had poor mental health when he pleaded guilty as a 16-year-old. He’s now 18 years old.
Meanwhile, the prosecutor’s office is working to provide Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel with the proper documents to launch a state-level investigation into the shooting.

To clarify, it was previously reported the shooter’s request was denied, but the motion that was denied was in relation to a procedural motion for additional briefings. No ruling has been entered in regard to the shooter’s motion to withdraw the plea, said Assistant Chief Prosecutor David Williams.
