HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. – Highland Park resident Isabelle Gaddie has grown tired of drivers crashing into her fence as the number of crashes near her home has tallied up to 27.
And dozens of times, they’ve done real damage.
Gaddie’s house is at the corner of John R Road and Davison Service Drive, a corner that’s become very familiar to Local 4.
Gaddie is rarely at a loss for words. What happened at her Highland Park home Monday (Nov. 25) evening nearly left her speechless.
Evening nearly left her speechless.
“I went to take me a little nap, and then I heard something go ‘Bam bam bam,’” said Gaddie.
Knocks at her door followed the bamming at her fence.
“I go to the door, and as soon as I see the police, I said, ‘No, not again,”’ Gaddie said.
Officials said two drivers crashed into her yard while losing control of their vehicles.
Each of the 27 crashes feels like Groundhog Day.
Good Samaritans replaced one recked fence for Gaddie. It looked fantastic for less than a day when a driver took out that new fence.
Gaddie is perplexed at the situation and stunned that it keeps happening.
“I don’t know what to do,” Gaddie said. “Every time, I have to pay for it.”
All 27 vehicles were not insured, so the bill keeps coming to Gaddie for repairs.
