Oakland County man faces charges following shooting, police standoff

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – A 44-year-old man is facing multiple charges after a reportedly shooting at his wife and having a police standoff in Farmington Hills.

It happened Saturday, Nov. 30, at a home off Ramblewood Drive, near the intersection of 14 Mile and Middlebelt roads. Police said they received a 911 call after a man reportedly shot at his wife multiple times inside the home.

The wife reportedly told police her husband had gotten drunk and became aggressive toward her. She said she armed herself with a firearm in self-defense and her husband armed himself with two guns and started shooting into the ceiling, the walls and toward her.

The woman fled the scene and met with Farmington Hills police officers.

Police said they attempted to de-escalate things and have the husband leave the home peacefully, but he reportedly ignored all commands.

A SWAT team from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Officer gained entry to the home and took the man into custody.

No injuries were reported.

Paul Holland was charged Monday, Dec. 2, with felonious assault, discharging a firearm inside a building and two counts of felony firearm. His bond was set at $250,000 -- 10% cash or surety.

He is expected to return to court for a preliminary examination conference Dec. 11.
