STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – A man was taken into custody Sunday after an argument with a roommate over missing marijuana led to a shooting in Sterling Heights, police said.

At 12:15 a.m. on Dec. 1, officers responded to the 4700 block of Ruton Court after receiving a report of shots being fired.

When they arrived, they discovered that one roommate had accused another roommate of stealing marijuana from them.

The argument escalated, and one of the roommates fired five shots through a bedroom door at the other person.

At the time of the shooting, there were eight people inside the home, including children. No one was injured.

The suspect was taken to the Macomb County Jail and is awaiting charges.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sterling Heights Police Department at 586-446-2825.
