Michigan’s regular firearm season ended on Nov. 30, and hunters harvested fewer deer than in previous years, according to current data from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

According to the most recent numbers on Monday afternoon, 133,716 deer were harvested during regular firearm season, with the total number of deer harvests in 2024 being 231,762.

Regular firearm season was from Nov. 15-Nov. 30, muzzleloading season begins on Dec. 6 and then late antlerless firearm season begins on Dec. 16.

Hunters have up 72 hours after taking a deer to report it, so the current numbers could change a bit, but so far, the data shows that the numbers are down from the amount of deer killed in previous years.

In 2023, there were 137,074 deer harvested and 154,940 in 2022 during the firearm season.

The report total across all hunting seasons for 2023 was 274,299 and the total for 2022 was 303,081.
