Deandre Patrick Lawrence, 24, of Detroit, has been charged in the 2023 Christmas Day shooting of his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend.
The incident occurred on Monday, Dec. 25, 2023, when Lawrence went to his ex-girlfriend’s house to deliver presents to his three children.

Officials say while at the home, he got into a physical altercation with his ex-girlfriend’s live-in boyfriend.
The boyfriend fled the house, and Lawrence followed him before the boyfriend tripped and fell to the ground.
Officials said Lawrence shot the boyfriend twice in the back while he lay on the ground.
Lawrence was charged with assault with intent to murder (life felony) and felony firearm (two-year mandatory felony).
The 24-year-old man is scheduled to be sentenced on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.
