Shootout at Detroit banquet hall leaves employee dead, 2 men hospitalized

Police are searching for other 4 shooters

DETROIT – A shootout at a Metro Detroit business left one man dead and police searching for answers.

The incident occurred on Tuesday (Dec. 3) at a banquet hall on Detroit’s east side.

Police told Local 4 the man killed was an employee there. A co-worker of the victim said he was just doing his job.

James Galen is a well-known attorney who has been with the establishment’s owner for years and explained what happened.

“It was really, really bad what happened here yesterday, it was extremely bad,” said Galen. “I got a phone call in the afternoon from my client stating that one of the employees had been murdered at the banquet hall. The hall is used for purposes, and an employee helped manage the place, clean the place, and act as security during the day. Apparently, six young men were buzzed into the building.”

Some cameras caught what happened, and it was horrible as six gunmen shot and killed the victim.

But not before returning fire and hitting two of the six gunmen.

One man worked with the employee who was killed.

“Calvin was a good guy who was just doing his job and taking care of the building,” said the coworker.

We’re in the throes of Christmas, and a family has to deal with the tragic death of a loved one.

“That’s the worst thing about it, as the streets have gone crazy,” Galen said.

The two gunmen that were hit showed up to the hospital while the other four were on the run.
