A pop-up bar with a theme inspired by the Christmas movie “Elf” opens in Detroit on Friday.
Side Hustle Lounge, a cocktail lounge adjacent to the popular Mootz Pizzeria + Bar at 1226 Library Street, is transforming into “Santa’s Side Hustle” on Friday, Dec. 6, 2024. The pop-up bar will feature decor with nods to the movie, and festive cocktails.
The pop-up will be open during Side Hustle Lounge’s regular hours. Every day through Dec. 31 from 4 p.m. until midnight. Reservations are not required.
The decor includes giant paper snowflakes, candy canes, and a memorable Lite-Brite “Welcome Santa” and neon “World’s Best Cup of Coffee” signs.
“Downtown Detroit is magical this time of year and we wanted to add to it,” said Lisa Walters, operating partner of Side Hustle Lounge. “Santa’s Side Hustle will celebrate the season in true Buddy fashion - where every day feels like Christmas.”
Specialty cocktails include the following:
- World’s Best Cup of Coffee – A warm blend of coffee with Frangelico or Bailey’s and a cinnamon sugar rim (Souvenir mug available for purchase for $10)
- Angry Elf – A Moscow Mule with vodka, cranberry, apple, ginger beer
- Son of a Nutcracker – A margarita with tequila, triple sec, cranberry, lime juice and simple syrup
- Sleigh What? – A martini with vodka, crème de cacao, gingerbread syrup and half & half
- New York Sour – Bourbon, lemon juice, and simple syrup topped with a red wine float
- Elf’d Up – Eggnog and bourbon garnished with a festive cinnamon stick
- Naughty or Nice shot – A shot of bourbon (naughty) or dark rum (nice)
Non-alcoholic versions of the drinks and hot chocolate is available.
