Former Washtenaw County church employee charged with child sex crimes charged with more crimes

Investigation identified multiple victims between ages 12-17

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – A former church leader in Washtenaw County facing criminal sexual conduct and child pornography charges is facing new criminal charges.

Zachary Radcliff, 29, a former music and youth director of Oakwood Church in Augusta Township, is accused of soliciting child sexually abusive material from minors.

In a lengthy statement, Oakwood Church wrote in part, “The safety and protection of the individuals in our church is what is paramount to us. We are devoted to doing what we can for the care of the victims of these crimes.”

Oakwood Church shared that everyone in the ministry working with children and young adults undergoes background checks.

Original felony charges

The investigation started on Oct. 2, when authorities reportedly received a tip that Radcliff solicited child sexually abusive material from a minor.

Police searched Radcliff’s office in October 2024, where they identified multiple victims during the investigation who were between the ages of 12 to 17 years old.

The prosecutor said the allegations in this case involve a series of incidents that date back to 2014.

In October, he was arraigned on 11 felony charges.

  • One count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
  • Two counts of aggravated child sexually abusive activity.
  • Two counts of child sexually abusive activity.
  • Five counts of using a computer / internet to commit a crime.
  • One count of using a computer to commit a crime with a maximum punishment greater than 20 years or life.

Additional charges

On Friday, Dec. 6, Michigan State Police announced that Radcliff was arraigned on Nov. 26 on 22 new charges related to criminal sexual conduct and child sexually abusive activity, bringing the total charges to 33.

  • Five counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
  • Three counts of criminal sexual conduct with a person under 13.
  • 12 counts of child sexually abusive activity.
  • Two counts of using a computer / internet to commit a crime.

He remains lodged at the Washtenaw County Jail.
