CANTON, Mich. – Another rare South African gold Krugerrand has been dropped in a Salvation Army red kettle.

This comes after a mysterious donor dropped their last Krugerrand in a red kettle at a Kroger store in St. Clair Shores last week.

The donor has given thousands of dollars over the last 12 years with their yearly Krugerrand coin donations.

When this “Secret Santa” left their last coin, they included a note, that called on others with Krugerrand’s to carry on the tradition.

Now, another one of the coins, which has an estimated value of $2,642, has been dropped into a red kettle at the Hobby Lobby store at 42643 in Canton, according to the Salvation Army.

In addition to this 1983 Krugerrand that was just donated, another two Sovereign coins and a 10-Ruble coin were donated to a red kettle in Farmington Hills. These two gold coins have a combined estimated value of $1,721.
