Macomb County woman convicted of felony murder in death of ex-boyfriend’s son

Woman faces life sentence for child’s death

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – Hilary Ulp, 46, has been found guilty in the death of her ex-boyfriend’s son after a six-week jury trial in Macomb County.

Ulp was found guilty of felony murder by a Macomb County jury on Monday (Dec. 9).

She is scheduled to be sentenced on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. in Macomb County Circuit Court.

On Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, Ulp was found guilty of first-degree child abuse of her then-boyfriend’s 14-month-old son, Nicolas Kuras, after being hospitalized on May 15, 2015.

Ulp was sentenced to 11-30 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections on Friday, Nov. 11, 2016.

The child was left with severe injuries and died due to those injuries on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2021. He was almost seven years old at the time of his death.

Ulp was charged with felony murder, a life-without-parole felony.
