The police officer is recovering in the hospital after being dragged from a vehicle

A Detroit police officer is recovering after being dragged by a vehicle late Tuesday night.

The incident happened on Dec. 10 on Saint Marys Street near 7 Mile and Greenfield, just a few minutes before midnight.

According to Detroit police, officers, who were on routine patrol, went to check on a car that was blocking a sidewalk.

As officers approached, they noticed two occupants in the car. They asked them to leave the car. The people in the car did not follow instructions. One of the officers then tried to open the car door.

The car pulled into the police car. The officer was then dragged by the vehicle.

The Detroit Police Department said the officers feared for their safety and fired a number of shots at the car.

The car got away but was found nearby on Prevost Street. The officer was taken to a hospital. The officer is recovering, and they are in good condition.

After that, police discovered a person was found a couple blocks away. They learned this person was shot multiple times in the chest and arm. Police believe they were one of the occupants of the vehicle that dragged the officer. This person is currently in the hospital in critical condition.

Police believe they know who the second occupant is and are searching for him.

The two occupants are believed to be members of a local gang. The person in the hospital is said to be 18 years old. Police believe the second occupant is 17 years old.
