DEARBORN, Mich. – A stolen vehicle suspect was arrested in Dearborn early Monday morning, police said.

Just after midnight, officers found a stolen vehicle near Brady and Cherry Hill streets using one of the Flock license plate reading cameras. They responded to the area and used a drone to help them locate the suspect.

Drone and body camera footage shows that a brief foot chase occurred before the suspect was taken into custody.

Police say they discovered that this suspect had also allegedly tried to open car doors in the neighborhood near the country club on the city’s west end.

“We are fortunate to have advanced technology, including license plate cameras and drones, to assist us in our day-to-day operations to locate these suspects,” said Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin. “This incident demonstrates the efficient and safe collaboration between our Night Shift Officers, Special Operations Team and Drone Officers in locating and apprehending the suspect. Thank you to all the Police Officers involved for a job well done!”

The suspect arrested, Avion Johnson, has been charged with receiving and concealing a motor vehicle.

He was arraigned and given a $5,000 bond, according to the police department.
