The role: As co-host of Live In The D you will join a team that works together to showcase life in and around Detroit through stories shot in the field, in studio segments, and digital interviews on Local 4+. In addition to on-air hosting, you will provide enterprised ideas and be a content creator, producer, and editor that looks for innovative ways to provide information through entertaining storytelling. You will also help with the station’s initiative of integrating sales content on Live In The D and work with station clients to achieve their content goals. Bringing a focus on the big-picture, to establish and execute content coverage on the show with a forward thinking-mindset is key. You will also have the responsibility of bringing a positive, collaborative attitude to work with your co-host on-air, and your Live In The D team behind the scenes. Responsibilities
- Co-host Live In The D daily and create an environment that is engaging for viewers and in studio guests.
- Produce weekly Live In The D+ episodes on Local 4+. These 30-minute shows are longform interview-based shows, and also includes all Live In The D personal. They focus on topics that may not make air on Live In The D, but are still good discussions.
- Must be willing to shoot, write, and edit pieces on your own. This is often done digital-style with a phone or other video gathering tools.
- Produce weekly studio segments that meet the strategic goals of the show.
- Attend Local 4 and Go 4 It initiatives, other big events hosted by the station, and community-based events, as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Key qualifications
- Capable of producing your own segments that have a flare for innovative and engaging storytelling.
- A solid background for researching and pitching enterprised story ideas that focus on community.
- In-depth knowledge of broadcast and digital content gathering.
- Ability to shoot stories using a smartphone or other tool and edit your own stories.
- Excellent writing skills for on-air and online.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience hosting a daily program.
- A preferable academic background in broadcast journalism, broadcast news, or a related field.
