DEARBORN, Mich. – A Dearborn man is awaiting charges after police say he stabbed his mother Sunday night — killing her.

Dearborn police received calls of a domestic dispute around 7:30 p.m. at a home on the 7800 block of Reuter Street, near Oakman Boulevard and Tireman.

Officers arrived at the scene within three minutes, but the mother, 70-year-old Jamila Alwan, was badly injured with stab wounds.

They rendered aid, giving her CPR until medics arrived, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The son, who police say does not have a criminal past, could be charged as early as Tuesday.

Police are not revealing a motive at this time.

They have been out to the home before, but Local 4 is told it was not domestic-violence related.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim,” said Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin in a release. “Senseless acts of this nature can shake the community to its core. We will continue this investigation diligently in order to deliver justice for the victim.”
